Second Wind Dreams® is a national non-profit organization based in metro Atlanta.  For over 10 years we have made it our mission to fulfill dreams nationwide for members of the Greatest Generation, particularly those who are among the most forgotten in our society: residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Join us in continuing this mission by helping to fulfill a dream or by donating to make a dream come true.

Second Wind Dreams Would Like to Thank
Robin Roberts, Co-Host of Good Morning America
!

A terrific dream was fulfilled recently when Good Morning America co-host Robin Roberts visited Josephine Simmons, a senior fan of hers who is also battling cancer. The senior, who lives in NJ, an hour away from ABC headquarters in NY, asked if she could receive an autographed picture of Robin. Robin went above and beyond the call of duty and offered to hand-deliver the autographed picture herself.

Robin made the two-hour round trip to visit Josephine, delivered the photo and proceeded to spend a delightful hour with Josephine and her family.

So thank you Robin, for taking time and giving back! We couldn't make dreams like these come true without gracious people like you.

Below are some of our other great dreams... Can you make a dream come true?

Our thanks to President Carter for paying a surprise visit to one of his biggest fans, 95-year-old Janice Robbins.  She stated, "If I knew I was going to meet you, I would've had my hair done!"

World War II Purple Heart winner William Anderson, 85, who resides in an assisted living facility in Alabama, has his dream fulfilled of meeting his favorite 2008 Republican candidate, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee.

Also in People Magazine: 89-year-old Roy Rebb, flying a
plane and 75-year-old Booker Linhorn, seeing a Braves game
and meeting future Hall of Famer Tom Glavine.

Second Wind Dreams' recent profile in People Magazine, featuring 83-year-old Evelyn Roberts riding a camel.

100-year-old Robert Kelly meets golf legend Lee Trevino.

Although she is confined to a wheelchair with rheumatoid arthritis, Betty Clanton is also an inspiring Second Wind Dreams volunteer.

Betty recently saw a PBS special entitled "Caring for Your Parents", which was sponsored by Harrah’s Entertainment, and said her dream would be to personally thank Harrah’s for its sponsorship of the PBS documentary. Harrah’s senior VP for government relations and communications, Jan Jones, who was also the two-term mayor of Las Vegas in the 1990’s, graciously flew from Las Vegas to Atlanta to fulfill Betty’s dream. Betty is a resident of a nursing home in metro Atlanta
.

Paula Deen takes a break from the kitchen to fulfill the dream visit request of 88-year-old Eveline Kelly, before treating Eveline to a VIP luncheon and a cooking demonstration.

84-year-old retired Air Force Colonel Steven Pogue (second from right),who resides in an assisted
living facility in San Antonio, fulfills his dream of meeting Karl Rove, while being joined by several
other veterans from the Colonel's facility.

In the 1940's, everyone pitched in to win the war,
so fulfilling dreams for elders nationwide is our
way of thanking the Greatest Generation.
